Treatment options

Anaesthesia is usually given to the top of the foot as this is quicker and a kinder way of numbing

A wide range of treatment options will be discussed with you to meet your particular needs which may include.

General foot care
Corns, callous, hard skin removal and thickened nails.

Ingrowing nails and Nail Surgery - We offer conservative treatment for ingrown nails but sometimes ingrown nails can be too painful and so
we offer nail surgery under local anaesthesia to ensure the nail does not regrow.

Verrucae - A viral infection of the skin. We offer cryrosurgery for young children and innovative Dry Needling with local anaesthesia to treat stubborn Verrucae. Please bear in mind that 65% of Verrucae will resolve within two years without any treatment and a small percentage will not respond
whatever treatment you try.
Please refer to the British Association  of Dermatologists website form further guidance

Verrucae Needling - This treatment is a surgical procedure performed under local anaesthesia.  It is particularly effective against long standing Verrucae allowing the immune system to inoculate the underlying tissue to resolve the infection.  Anaesthesia is usually given to the top of the foot as this is quicker and a kinder way of numbing the area. Patients who opt for Needling will need to be able to rest their foot and keep it dry for a few days post treatment. Resolution is typically between 8-12 weeks but may be longer in some circumstances.
This treatment is for those who have tried every other treatment including laser.

Knee Pain- foot alignment problem can affect the knee treated with orthotcis and if necessary, a local steroid injection.
Lower back pain- proper alignment of the lower limbs with orthotics can take alleviate the pressure off of the lower back.
For most of you, your new orthotics will feel uncomfortable at first, like you're standing on a small, hard ball and applying a lot of pressure to the arch of your foot. For others they may feel great! ...please allow a break in period when first using if they do feel uncomfortable.

Cortisone Injections- We can administer Steroid Injections if you have tried conservative treatments without relief of symptoms.
